How Potentia Began
Potentia Coaches began with a simple question: What if every leader had access to the right coach, not just any coach?
After more than 30 years working with Fortune 500 companies — navigating complex cultures, witnessing the impact of strong (and weak) leadership, and experiencing firsthand how difficult it can be to find the right support for professionals — Amy Kessler recognized a gap in the coaching industry. Leaders weren’t struggling because they lacked talent. They were struggling because they lacked the kind of personalized, strengths‑aligned support that truly moves people forward.
When Amy completed her coaching credentials and began shaping her practice, her daughter — a Latin enthusiast — suggested the name Potentia. In Latin, it means potential, but it also carries the deeper connotations of strength and power. That trifecta captured the heart of what Amy wanted leaders to experience: the potential within them, the strengths that drive them, and the power that emerges when they’re supported well.
Organizations also benefit when their coaches share a common foundation — a unified philosophy, language, and assessment approach. Talent Development leaders know that when every coach operates from the same core framework, it prevents a patchwork of competing modalities and creates a more cohesive, aligned culture of growth.
